Meditation

When asked, “What have you gained from meditation?”  Buddha  replied, “Nothing!”
Then he continued, “However, let me tell you what I have lost: anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity, and fear of old age and death.”

What is Meditation?

Most of us at some point in our lives, regardless of how often or under what circumstances, have uttered a prayer.  Most likely we were asking for something or giving thanks for some blessing that had occurred in our life or that of a loved one. Many times we feel as though our prayers were not answered but in actual fact, if we were to think back we would need to ask ourselves, did I take time to listen for the answer?

When asked what it means to meditate, Rev. Janice responds in this way, “Meditation is the practice of calming the mind and body so our spirit – also known as our Higher Self – can give thanks for our many blessings, allow ourselves to freely forgive others and ourselves, let go of any negative feelings and energies and stress, in order that we can open our hearts and minds to receive the love, compassion and positive energy we deserve.”

By simply dedicating even 15 minutes a day to find this stillness you will soon reap the benefits of less stress, which in turn will reduce other physical problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease and bring in an inner sense of peace and focus.

You don’t need special equipment, you don’t need to be a certain age, and you can do it almost anywhere.  Just find a place where you can sit or lay down comfortably, without interruption, close your eyes and begin.  Guided meditations are helpful especially when you first begin as they assist you in being focused. There is even walking meditation for those moments you find yourself in nature (don’t close your eyes with this one!). The long term effects of meditation on your over all well-being are now being understood more fully by the medical and scientific communities and many physicians are encouraging their patients to use these techniques to lower their stress levels. Begin your daily practice today and see what a difference it makes in your life.

Healing Circle Gatherings: Connection, Compassion, and Spirit

Rev. Janice received this beautiful message from one of the people attending Healing Circle Gathering:

I am blessed that our paths have crossed. Every time I enter your space I feel an overwhelming peacefulness. The meditation members are insightful and are generous with their love. I am so grateful for having been able to heal thus far. Because of you I am no longer a victim to my pain. I thank you and the group for saving my soul.”

While our in-person circles are pausing until the spring, our sacred community continues to thrive online! Join us on the last Monday of each month from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm via Zoom for a time of fellowship, meditation, and spiritual exploration.

The Healing Circle Gathering is a safe, judgment-free sanctuary where we come together to ask the “bigger questions,” share our personal journeys, and find support in a community of like-minded souls. This is a place where we laugh together, learn together, and—most importantly—heal together.

What to Expect at our Monthly Gathering

Your Health and Meditation

It is a staggering fact that stress is the trigger for over 85% of doctor visits and 95% of all viruses. Beyond physical illness, unchecked stress contributes to sleep deprivation, eating disorders, a lack of focus, and social difficulties.

In our society, we often operate on a “wait until it breaks” mentality. When we feel unwell, we look for a quick fix—a “glue job”—rather than taking the time to discover the root cause of the “dis-ease.” We often rely on prescriptions to cure our issues without considering the side effects, or we turn to smoking or evening cocktails to unwind. While these habits may feel relaxing in the moment, they actually place more physical stress on the body.

A daily meditation practice offers a proven alternative. By managing stress proactively, we can move away from quick fixes and nurture a body that is resilient, healthy, and balanced.

Children and Meditation: Leading by Example

Our children are our greatest observers. When we use substances to cope with stress, we inadvertently teach the next generation to do the same. It is no wonder that many young people turn to alcohol or narcotics to find relief; they are simply following the adult example.

Currently, we see more and more children being medicated for behavioral and health issues. However, in many cases, a holistic approach—incorporating a change in diet, regular exercise, and a daily meditation practice—can create profound improvements in their well-being.

Children rely on their parents for guidance. Take a moment to look at how you treat your own body, mind, and spirit. By taking small steps to improve your own lifestyle, you model a healthier path for your family. When you make wellness a priority, the benefits ripple out to everyone in your home. What if you could change that response entirely?

By taking this four week course you will be taking the first step in bettering your own personal healing of mind, body, and spirit, and preparing yourself, should you wish to go further into hypnosis.  This course does not qualify you to be a hypnotherapist or hypno-coach but rather shows you how to use some basic methods of self-hypnosis to deepen the relaxation of your client’s meditations.

Testimonials

“For many years I have had the great pleasure of sitting with Janice Chrysler in meditation. Whether we sit together in the form of one of her transformational meditation workshops or by listening to the sound of her voice on one of her many meditation recordings, Janice is able to create calm, reflective, and healing spaces. Janice’s workshops have provided me an opportunity to engage in self-care practices and explore the inner feelings of my heart. This has been extraordinarily helpful for me, especially in times of grief and loss, life transitions, and when deciding which life path to take next. Through her leadership, knowledge, and passion, Janice has   empowered me to develop my own healing practices, which has been life changing. I highly recommend Janice and all of her meditation workshops.”
