The most common excuse people use for not meditating is they do not feel they have the time. People have the preconceived notion it will add yet another thing to do in their already busy day. However, this could be one of the most beneficial 15 to 30 minutes they spend each day.
The benefits of meditating have recently been written up by medical and scientific communities who have been studying this practice for quite some time now. It has been revealed that those who have a routine of prayer and /or meditation have lower stress levels.
Did you realize that stress is responsible for:
- 85% of all doctor’s visits
- 98% of all virus
- triggering cancer, asthma, heart disease, hypertension
- the on set of skin conditions such as psoriasis
- inability to focus
- sleep disorders
- depression and anxiety
If you have tried to meditate once, and gave up, give it a try again. Many find joining a meditation group beneficial, at least at first for encouragement. Like all things that are worth while, practice and patience is the key. There are various methods so look around for a good fit for you. The long term benefits heavily outweigh anything else. Very soon you will find you are looking forward to your daily trip to nowhere. And who knows? You may end up on a very personal and spiritual journey.
